Hello, and welcome to the September edition of ADAQ’s E-News.

We have some good news for you this month – BOQ Specialist is offering two bursaries, each worth $5,500. The first is the Emerging Practitioners Bursary, and the second is the Practice Bursary for dental excellence. Both of these recognise excellence and a commitment to further professional development. The winner can use the funds for ADAQ CPD Courses for yourself and/or your practice staff, so they’re an excellent way of supporting your learning. We encourage you to apply for these generous bursaries using the link onscreen.

The September Edition of The Dental Mirror is now available. Head to the link on screen to read it. Things to look out for include articles on the costs of CPD non-compliance, the past, present and future of ADAQ’s Continuing Professional Development, and Digital Dentistry – a taste of what’s to come at ADAQ’s Clinic Day. This will be held on Friday November 26, and it promises to be one of the most exciting in recent years. Following on from the Dental Mirror article, the theme is “Digital Dentistry” and features some of Australia’s leading experts in the area, including Dr Anthony Mak from Sydney, a general practitioner who has revolutionised his practice and is one of the country’s foremost exponents, other presenters include Michael Lewis, Raahib Dudhia, Tony Weir and many others. The format has changed and this year we’ll conclude the day with a cocktail party – I invite you to join us for a fun day of learning.

Finally, I’d like to remind you that Council nominations close soon. We are seeking nominations from Moreton (four positions), and for a Councillor from each of the Burnett, Western, Northern, Peninsula and Sunshine Coast regions. Council nominations are not being sought from the Gold Coast or from the Central regions, because we stagger elections so that we don’t risk losing all of Council’s corporate wisdom by completely replacing an old Council with a brand new one. Those regions will seek new Councillors next year. If you feel that you have something to offer, please nominate, no matter how recently you graduated. Make sure your region’s voice is heard!

That’s all from me this month. From all of us at ADAQ, take care, stay safe and stay well!
